Sunday Morning Worship
Sunday morning Worship at Immanuel begins at 10:45. Join us for services that are relaxed, reverent and relevant…all at the same time. Worship offers time for quiet preparation and reflection as well as sharing Christ’s Peace, and our Joys and Concerns with one another. Music invites us to moments of personal serenity as well as shared celebration. Our Order of Worship flows as we move Into the Presence… Into the Word and then on Into the World.
Into the Presence
Each Sunday worship service offers a “Personal Preparation” and “Gathering Music and Prelude” as a doorway to meaningful and centered worship. Our announcements are shared at the outset of worship so that we may focus our full attention on God as the worship service unfolds. Once called to worship we offer our Hymn of Praise, our Shared Prayers and extend to one another Christ’s peace.
Into the Word
We share the Written Word from both the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures; and then welcome the Proclaimed Word (our sermon followed by Moment for Quiet Reflection) before we respond with gratitude in Song and receive the morning Offering.
Into the World
Our worship concludes with A Hymn of Dedication and our Unison Charge and Benediction. Following the Postlude everyone is invited to the McDonald Room for refreshments and fellowship.
Worship Leadership
Our Pastor is the primary preacher although we also welcome Guest Preachers throughout the year. Multiple retired clergy have chosen to make the Immanuel Community their spiritual home and they frequently share in leadership. Additionally, each worship service includes trained liturgists and readers from the congregation.
Ecumenical Mass
Immanuel and Spiritus Christi celebrate an “Ecumenical Mass” every Tuesday at 12:10 in our Sanctuary. Leadership is shared by members and staff from both congregations. The service includes music and lasts about 45 minutes.
Special and Seasonal Worship Services
Special Worship themes include our Juneteenth Celebration; Pride Week; Cornerstone Sunday; World Communion; Reformation Celebration and All Saints Remembrance. Seasonal Worship includes Service of Stillness; Advent and Christmas Eve; Ash Wednesday, Lent and Easter and Pentecost.
Let us go out into God’s world in peace; have courage;
hold on to what is good; return to no one evil for evil;
strengthen the faint-hearted; support the weak; help the suffering;
honor all persons; love and serve the Lord,
rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Sacraments/Ordinances
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the First Sunday of Every month at Immanuel. All are welcome at Christ’s Table. Special Arrangements can be made for Homebound Communion by Contacting the Pastor. Baptisms are scheduled after a consultation with the Pastor and affirmation of the Board of Ministry.
Funerals and Memorials
Immanuel wants to provide you and your loved ones spiritual support and pastoral care through the end of life process. We can help to plan a funeral/memorial and provide sacred space to celebrate the life of your loved one. Please contact the pastor for information and care. (Guide to Memorial Services at Immanuel)
Weddings
Immanuel is an inclusive community and we welcome you to consider holding your Christian Marriage Service at our church. Wedding services cannot be scheduled until after you have met with the Pastor and your request has been approved by the Board of Ministry. Please refer our Guide to Weddings at Immanuel.

Together in Music
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the Earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into God’s presence with Singing.” Psalm 100:1
The Immanuel Baptist Church Count It All Joy Choir
Do you like to sing? Then please consider becoming part of the Count It All Joy choir! Supported by our cantors and soloists the Immanuel choir sings at least twice a month from September through June. Rehearsal times are scheduled around the choir members and are most often held on Sunday mornings. The choir is even more joyful as they are joined by a guitar, recorder, violin or even a hammered dulcimer. If you play a musical instrument and would like to share your gifts just let Andrew know. The choir leads the congregation as together we sing to the glory of God.
Special Concerts and Musical Events
The Immanuel Community has a wonderful history of offering concerts for our community. Throughout the years we have welcomed Jazz, Folk and Rock music to the community as well as a Women’s Korean Choir. With new Sound system upgrades our guest artists will find our sanctuary a wonderful venue to share their music and our gathered community a superb listening experience. Concerts are listed on our Upcoming Events page!
Music and Art Camp
Following a joyful inaugural session this past August (2025) the Immanuel Community is pleased to offer another Music and Arts Camp next August for children in K through 5th Grade. Led by Andrew Cooke the camp will run mornings from 8:30 (drop off) to 12:00 noon (pick up) and will include a morning snack. Space will be limited to 20.
Our Director of Music Ministries
The Immanuel Community is privileged to have Andrew Cooke as our Director of Music Ministries. Whether he is playing our pipe organ or the piano we are blessed each week by his positive spirit and amazing expertise. The son of a Baptist preacher Andrew brings a deep feeling for the faith which he shares with the choir, our guest musicians and the congregation. Andrew embraces the diversity of music that reflects the diversity of God.
Faith
Together in Study
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29
From the very beginning of the Christian church it was recorded that “They devoted themselves to the Apostle’s teaching…” and at Immanuel we encourage one another do the same. We seek to learn together the things made known and being made known in Christ. Those who teach are continuing to learn and those being taught are also teaching. With deep appreciation for our Biblical foundation and centuries of rich theological inheritance we continue to study and grow together in our faith and in Christ.
Lectio Divina
There are numerous ways to study the Bible. This fall we are offering a course of study known as “Lectio Divina.” Lectio Divina (Spiritual Reading) is a practice of contemplative reading and prayer with Scripture. In patient and thoughtful reading of scripture we seek not only deeper understanding of the Word of God but seek a more personal encounter with the living God. We seek to learn not only what the Bible said.. but what God might be saying to us here and now.
Our Church Library
The Immanuel Church library is located between the church offices and the McDonald Room. Our library has a great number of Biblical Commentaries as well as other resources to enhance your spiritual life. Please feel free to stop in tomorrow and browse!
Visiting Scholars and Servants
Immanuel will from time to time invite visiting Scholars and Missionaries to share their story from the pulpit and as part of an in-house seminar or special weekend. These will be listed in our Upcoming Events page.
